Cake Decorating 101. Offset palette knife: For applying frosting without dragging your fingers through it. Serrated cake or bread knife: For leveling and splitting layers.
You will learn tips and tricks on how to make a no fail buttercream and advice on. If you're making a layer cake, use a bread knife or other long, serrated knife to level each layer before stacking. Tips: star tip, rose tip, round tip.
The inspiration for this cake came from one of my favorite flowers, the sunflower.
Bring ALL your cold ingredients to room temp (eggs, butter, milk).
Finish by topping the cake with any decorations you might have — I like using HERSHEY'S Kitchens Semi-Sweet Mini Chips! (And PS — yes, The Naked Cake is basically just a cake with a crumb coat. The yellow peeps make eye-catching flower petals, and I carefully placed chocolate chips in a circular pattern to resemble the seeds in the middle of a sunflower. The good news is that there are plenty of resources that you can use to learn these skills.
